Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus

March 29-30, 2008 :

Friends Are Benefits

Friends are BenefitsThe Chorus presents one of its most compelling and important concerts in its history.

Act I is filled with evocative, heartfelt music that deals with everyone whose paths have crossed our own: our family, friends, and supporters – those who stick with us through thick and thin, and still love us, warts and all. Highlights include: For Good (from Wicked), The Way Old Friends Do (ABBA), He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, and Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkel).

Act II features the world premiere of Through a Glass, Darkly which confronts methamphetamine addiction and the effects it has on victims and their immediate circle. It is about dreams shattered, dreams unrealized, and dreams deferred. It is about the fear of being alone, the struggle to find one’s place in society, and the fear of not fitting in. Through a Glass, Darkly bravely, boldly, and unapologetically explores these themes, and reflects opportunities for support and hope. Through a Glass, Darkly reveals the truth that, with help from our friends, we can gain the insight to see life more clearly.

Strong, mature material; audience discretion is advised.
