Minneapolis, MN, April 21, 2004– The Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus will perform a special outreach concert at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Weber Music Hall on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at 3 p.m. The concert is to benefit the University's Cruden-Riggs GLBT Scholarship Fund.
The Chorus will perform Metamorphosis , their new commission that premiered on March 19 of this year at Ted Mann Concert Hall. Metamorphosis is an in-depth exposure of the lives of the men in the Chorus based on interviews from more than 80 men of the Chorus. Writings, phone calls and conversations gleaned a uniquely Minnesotan slant on the community and the lives of the people in it. The finished piece, which has eleven movements and an encore, will be performed in its entirety at the benefit.
"We are very excited to be taking Metamorphosis to Duluth ," said Dr. Stan Hill , Artistic Director for the Chorus. "It's a project that we are all very proud of, and we feel that it delivers an important universal message for anyone and everyone that hears it. Taking our music and our message outside the Twin Cities is an important part of our mission, and we were honored to be asked to perform at the University," Hill added.
The concert will be held at the University's Weber Music Hall at 1151 University Drive, Duluth, MN 55812 . Tickets are $10 and may be obtained by calling 218.726.8996 or online at www.d.umn.edu/unirel/tcgmc-umd.html . Tickets will also be available at the door.
