Minneapolis, MN - The Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus will perform an all-new outreach concert at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. This concert is part of the St. Joan's 2004-2005 popular concert series. Tickets are $17.
The Chorus will perform selections from their upcoming holiday concert: Snow! A Winter Wonderland of Song. Rich with nostalgia, this all new program will include many classics like White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Waltz and many other snow-themed favorites.
There will also be some less familiar, though breathtakingly beautiful, selections like The Snow , by Edward Elgar; two movements from Morten Lauridsen's Mid-Winter Songs; an Austrian Carol, Still, Still, Still and a moving piece from the opera Vanessa , Must the Winter Come So Soon, by Samuel Barber.
In a departure from the snow theme, the Chorus will perform a new piece that speaks to the power of single individuals when they have the courage to take a stand and speak out against bigotry and hate. Not In Our Town, written by Fred Small, has become one of the favorites of the Chorus. "More than ever, we are really looking forward to performing at St. Joan of Arc," said Dr. Stan Hill, Artistic Director for the Chorus.
Joining the Chorus for this concert will be popular Twin Cities jazz/pop entertainer and recording artist, Debbie Duncan.
